Requirement Description
 
Candidates must be enrolled in a program that is registered with the New York State Education Department and leads to a certificate in the subject area of the certificate sought.

A listing of these preapproved programs is available through our Inventory of Registered Programs.

A number of community colleges in New York State have agreements with four-year institutions to allow teaching assistants to begin their teacher education programs at the community college level.
